Everything here is free to use in coverage of bite, without asking first. If you need something that isn't here — a different screenshot, a higher resolution, a quote on something specific — write to hello@bite.fyi and you will get an answer the same day.
In one sentence
bite turns the articles, videos and podcasts you meant to get to into short briefings you can actually finish.
In one paragraph
bite is a reading app built around a trade: save the tab, close it, and a few minutes later it comes back as something you can finish — written as prose, never bullet points. It reads articles, YouTube videos and podcast episodes, hands back a summary in whichever language you read in, and keeps count of the reading time it saved you. It is made by one developer in Berlin, and there are no ads and no tracking in it.
The story
bite started from a pile of thirty open tabs and the growing certainty that none of them would ever be read. Every read-later app that was tried made it worse: they are all places to put things, and the pile just moved somewhere quieter.
The thing that was actually missing was permission to close the tab — and that only works if what comes back is worth the trade. So bite is built the other way round from most summarising tools. It writes full sentences rather than fragments, because bullet points are easy to generate and easy to skim past, and a summary nobody reads has saved nobody any time. What has been read leaves the stack, so an empty screen is the goal rather than an accusation.
Two things came out of building it that were not planned. Coverage of the same story from three outlets arrives as one bite instead of three. And because summaries are written rather than extracted, they can be written in the reader's own language — a German newspaper read in English, including everything saved months ago.

The app

The stack: what you saved and haven't read yet.

A bite. Prose, never bullet points.

The reading time bite gave back, which the app keeps count of.
